Last night the Cleveland Indians  and New York Yankees were supposed to play at Progressive Field. The game was televised on ESPN2. I was excited because I live out of market and do not EVER get to see Indians games on TV unless I go someplace with the MLB package on Direct TV. So the one game they have on TV...postponed. They will probably make it up on May 13th as both teams are off that day. The Tribe plays in Detroit on the 12th and in Philly on the 14th, while the Yankees have a game in Kansas City on the 12th and play the Mariners in Yankee Stadium on the 14th. The 2 teams are supposed to play in Cleveland again tonight, but the weather report is less than favorable for the 7:05 start.

In other Tribe news, it was good to see Carlos Carrasco get back on the horse after his suspension for hitting Billy Butler in Kansas City. The incident happened back in 2011, but Carrasco missed last season recovering from Tommy John surgery.  In the 4th inning of his short debut against New York, Carlos plunked Kevin Youkilis and was ejected. The Tribe optioned him to their Triple A affiliate in Columbus. Terry Francona still insists that the plunking was an accident. The Indians pulled up Corey Kubler to start last night, but the rain delay sent him to the bullpen and Zach McAllister  (0-1 3.0 ERA) will start tonight as scheduled. Phil Hughes (0-1 6.75 ERA) will take the mound for the Yankees. The Indians are 3-5 and in last place in the AL Central. The Yankees are 4-4 and in 3rd place in the AL East.

In hockey news, the Carolina Hurricanes will meet the Washington Capitals for the 5th and final time this season at the Verizon Center in Washington. Carolina has lost the last 6 games it has played and are 5 games below .500 at 16-21 with 34 points in the standings, 2 points ahead of the Florida Panthers. The Caps lead the Southeast Division with 22-17 record and 44 points. The Hurricanes are in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, a whopping 10 points behind the NY Rangers who currently hold the 8th and final play-off spot.
